Caregiver (CNA or PCA)

Job DescriptionPay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Location: Glen Haven Huntersville - 6900 Gilead Rd, Huntersville, NC

Schedule: Full-time and part-time; days, evenings, overnights

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

If you’re a CNA or trained PCA who takes pride in doing things the right way, Glen Haven Huntersville is built for you.

Only six residents in a beautiful, high‑end home.

Better than 3:1 caregiver ratio.

Owners on site, present, and involved.

Every resident known by name, routine, and preference.

You’re not just “filling a shift” here. You’re one of a small, trusted team responsible for giving six seniors the best possible day, every day.

If you’re tired of being rushed, ignored, or treated like a number, this is the opposite of that.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Caregiver at Glen Haven, you will:

- Provide hands-on personal care. Support residents with bathing, showering, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, dressing, and safe transfers/ambulation according to the care plan.

- Support a calm, predictable daily routine. Offer companionship, redirection, cueing for memory support, and encourage participation in simple activities (conversation, music, reading, short walks, meals together).

- Monitor and document resident status. Follow written care plans, complete basic shift documentation, and immediately report changes in condition, behavior, appetite, mobility, or skin integrity.

- Administer medications safely and accurately. Give medications as ordered, follow the MAR exactly, follow all “five rights” of medication administration, and promptly report and document any medication issues per policy.

- Communicate clearly with the care team and families. Give and receive thorough shift reports, escalate concerns quickly, and maintain a calm, professional tone with residents and families at all times.

NON‑NEGOTIABLE QUALIFICATIONS

We are only considering applicants who are already fully trained and cleared to administer medications in a North Carolina adult/family care home.

You must meet all of the following to be hired:

1. Either already a current CNA in North Carolina or have completed North Carolina 80‑Hour PCA Training

If you are not already listed on the NC CNA Registry, you must provide documentation of successful completion of an approved 80‑hour PCA (or equivalent personal care training) program under North Carolina rules.
No certificate = no job offer.

2. Able to Administer Medications on Day One

Completed the required North Carolina medication training (10‑hour/5‑hour classes or equivalent) for adult/family care settings.

Passed the North Carolina Medication Aide exam and are currently eligible to pass medications in an assisted living/family care home.

Comfortable and experienced using a MAR, following written orders, and documenting medications correctly.

3. Recent, relevant hands‑on experience

At least 2 years of paid experience providing direct personal care to older adults in a facility or in‑home setting.

Experience with memory care/dementia is strongly preferred.

If you are not a CNA or do not have the 80‑hour PCA credential and current med‑aide qualification, this role will not be a fit at this time.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

At least 18 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Able to pass required background checks and health/TB screening.

Able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs with reasonable accommodation and to stand/walk for most of the shift.

Able to read and follow written care plans and document care in English (paper and basic electronic formats).

Reliable transportation and a strong history of on‑time attendance.

WHO THRIVES HERE

You will do well at Glen Haven if you:

- Take your training and med‑admin responsibilities seriously and follow procedures every time.

- Are calm, patient, and steady with residents who may be confused, anxious, or repetitive.
Like working in a small, tight‑knit team where everyone is visible and accountable.

- Show up early, ready to report, and understand that reliability is part of good care.

- Want a long‑term home, not just a short‑term job.

WHAT WE OFFER

Small, stable resident group in a high‑quality residential home.

Better than 3:1 caregiver ratios so you can actually do the job you were trained to do.

Supportive owners who are on site and accessible.

Clear procedures, strong medication policies, and training refreshers as needed.

Competitive hourly pay within the posted range, with premium opportunities for high‑reliability team members.

HOW TO APPLY

If you meet the non‑negotiable requirements below, we want to talk to you:

CNA or have completed 80‑hour North Carolina PCA training (with certificate)
Completed required NC medication training and passed the state Med Aide exam
At least 2 years of hands‑on personal care experience
Next step: When you apply, be sure to:

Attach your resume.
Upload or be ready to provide your 80‑hour PCA training certificate or verify that you are currently listed on the NC CNA Regstry.

Upload or be ready to provide proof of medication aide training and exam completion.

Qualified applicants will receive a prompt response to schedule a phone screen, a video interview, and, if appropriate, an on‑site working interview.

Chef & Home Care Steward

Job DescriptionPay: $15.50 - $18.00 per hour

Location: Glen Haven Huntersville – 6900 Gilead Rd, Huntersville, NC

Schedule: 36 hours/week – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 6 days per week (one full weekend off per month)

ABOUT GLEN HAVEN HUNTERSVILLE

Glen Haven Huntersville is a boutique, 6‐resident senior home in a quiet residential neighborhood of Huntersville.

We provide private rooms, home‐cooked meals, and close, consistent support for a very small group of residents. Our caregivers handle hands‐on care and medications.

This Chef & Home Care Steward position keeps the home running smoothly so they can focus on residents.

If you enjoy cooking simple, fresh meals and take pride in a spotless, welcoming home, this role is for you.

JOB OVERVIEW

You will:

Cook and manage breakfast and lunch each day.

Cook and fully stage dinner so caregivers can serve later.

Keep the kitchen, dining room, and common areas tidy and presentable.

Run routine laundry and help keep the home organized and “tour ready.”

You are not working in a huge facility or restaurant kitchen. This is one house, six residents, and a small team that treats this like a private home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Breakfast & Lunch: Cook, Serve, and Reset

Prepare and cook a simple, high‐quality breakfast and lunch for up to six residents and a small staff.

Set the dining area, coordinate timing with caregivers, and ensure residents’ dietary preferences or needs (texture, portion size, etc.) are followed.

Clear dishes, run the dishwashers, wash necessary items by hand, wipe counters, and sweep kitchen and dining floors so the space is reset by early afternoon.

2. Dinner: Cook and Stage for Evening Service

Review overnight prep (chopped items, marinades, etc.) and plan your work accordingly.

Cook the main dinner components (meat, sides, vegetables) so they are fully cooked or nearly cooked and ready for safe reheating.

Label and cover dishes with clear instructions (for example: “Uncover and place in 325° oven at 5:00 p.m. for 20 minutes”).

Note any resident‐specific instructions (texture, allergies, favorite items) on a simple dinner sheet for caregivers.

Confirm with the on‐duty caregivers before you leave that they understand how to finish and serve dinner on time.

Caregivers will reheat, plate, serve, and clean up after dinner.

3. Housekeeping – Kitchen, Dining, and Common Areas

Keep the kitchen, dining room, entryway, living room, hallways, and shared bathrooms tidy and clean during your shift:

Wipe down surfaces, spot‐clean spills, empty common‐area trash, and straighten furniture.
Do light sweeping/vacuuming of high‐traffic areas as needed.

Keep the home “tour‐ready” most days-minimal clutter, clean surfaces, and a welcoming feel.

4. Laundry and Light Room Support

Run one to two loads of laundry each day (household linens first: towels, kitchen linens; resident laundry as time allows).

Fold and put away linens in the correct storage areas; caregivers will deliver folded resident clothing to rooms.

As time allows, do light resident room touch‐ups (collect laundry, empty trash, open curtains, straighten beds).

5. Organization and Communication

Keep the pantry, refrigerator, and cleaning supplies organized, labeled, and rotated.

Maintain a simple restock list for groceries and household supplies; flag low items before they run out.

At the end of each shift, give a brief verbal handoff to the caregivers or administrator on duty about: (a) What was cooked for lunch and dinner, (b) Any supplies running low, (c) Any equipment or house issues noticed (appliances, odors, pests, etc.).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

2+ years of experience in at least one of these:

Cooking for families, small groups, or in a senior living or healthcare setting.

Housekeeping in a home, hotel, or senior community.

Comfort cooking simple, balanced meals (baked chicken, roasted vegetables, soups, casseroles, salads, etc.) from a basic menu or recipe.

Strong attention to cleanliness and organization-“eyes for detail” in a kitchen and home setting. We keep the house spotless!

Reliability: shows up on time, rarely calls out, and uses time well without constant supervision.

Able to communicate clearly with caregivers and owners in a calm, respectful way.

REQUIREMENTS

At least 18 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Able to pass required background checks.

Physically able to stand and walk for most of a 6‐hour shift, lift up to 40 lbs occasionally, and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and carrying laundry.

Comfortable following written instructions and basic recipes in English.

WHAT WE OFFER

A calm, residential work environment-no industrial kitchens or massive cleaning tasks.

A small, steady group of residents and a tight, respectful team.

Competitive hourly pay within the posted range, with the higher end reserved for candidates who bring strong experience and reliability.

Clear expectations, written routines, and direct access to the owners for questions and support.
