ABOUT GLEN HAVEN HUNTERSVILLE
Glen Haven Huntersville is a boutique, 6‐resident senior home in a quiet residential neighborhood of Huntersville.
We provide private rooms, home‐cooked meals, and close, consistent support for a very small group of residents. Our caregivers handle hands‐on care and medications.
This Chef & Home Care Steward position keeps the home running smoothly so they can focus on residents.
If you enjoy cooking simple, fresh meals and take pride in a spotless, welcoming home, this role is for you.
JOB OVERVIEW
You will:
Cook and manage breakfast and lunch each day.
Cook and fully stage dinner so caregivers can serve later.
Keep the kitchen, dining room, and common areas tidy and presentable.
Run routine laundry and help keep the home organized and “tour ready.”
You are not working in a huge facility or restaurant kitchen. This is one house, six residents, and a small team that treats this like a private home.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Breakfast & Lunch: Cook, Serve, and Reset
Prepare and cook a simple, high‐quality breakfast and lunch for up to six residents and a small staff.
Set the dining area, coordinate timing with caregivers, and ensure residents’ dietary preferences or needs (texture, portion size, etc.) are followed.
Clear dishes, run the dishwashers, wash necessary items by hand, wipe counters, and sweep kitchen and dining floors so the space is reset by early afternoon.
2. Dinner: Cook and Stage for Evening Service
Review overnight prep (chopped items, marinades, etc.) and plan your work accordingly.
Cook the main dinner components (meat, sides, vegetables) so they are fully cooked or nearly cooked and ready for safe reheating.
Label and cover dishes with clear instructions (for example: “Uncover and place in 325° oven at 5:00 p.m. for 20 minutes”).
Note any resident‐specific instructions (texture, allergies, favorite items) on a simple dinner sheet for caregivers.
Confirm with the on‐duty caregivers before you leave that they understand how to finish and serve dinner on time.
Caregivers will reheat, plate, serve, and clean up after dinner.
3. Housekeeping – Kitchen, Dining, and Common Areas
Keep the kitchen, dining room, entryway, living room, hallways, and shared bathrooms tidy and clean during your shift:
Wipe down surfaces, spot‐clean spills, empty common‐area trash, and straighten furniture.
Do light sweeping/vacuuming of high‐traffic areas as needed.
Keep the home “tour‐ready” most days-minimal clutter, clean surfaces, and a welcoming feel.
4. Laundry and Light Room Support
Run one to two loads of laundry each day (household linens first: towels, kitchen linens; resident laundry as time allows).
Fold and put away linens in the correct storage areas; caregivers will deliver folded resident clothing to rooms.
As time allows, do light resident room touch‐ups (collect laundry, empty trash, open curtains, straighten beds).
5. Organization and Communication
Keep the pantry, refrigerator, and cleaning supplies organized, labeled, and rotated.
Maintain a simple restock list for groceries and household supplies; flag low items before they run out.
At the end of each shift, give a brief verbal handoff to the caregivers or administrator on duty about: (a) What was cooked for lunch and dinner, (b) Any supplies running low, (c) Any equipment or house issues noticed (appliances, odors, pests, etc.).
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Cooking for families, small groups, or in a senior living or healthcare setting.
Housekeeping in a home, hotel, or senior community.
Comfort cooking simple, balanced meals (baked chicken, roasted vegetables, soups, casseroles, salads, etc.) from a basic menu or recipe.
Strong attention to cleanliness and organization-“eyes for detail” in a kitchen and home setting. We keep the house spotless!
Reliability: shows up on time, rarely calls out, and uses time well without constant supervision.
Able to communicate clearly with caregivers and owners in a calm, respectful way.
REQUIREMENTS
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Able to pass required background checks.
Physically able to stand and walk for most of a 6‐hour shift, lift up to 40 lbs occasionally, and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and carrying laundry.
Comfortable following written instructions and basic recipes in English.
WHAT WE OFFER
A calm, residential work environment-no industrial kitchens or massive cleaning tasks.
A small, steady group of residents and a tight, respectful team.
Competitive hourly pay within the posted range, with the higher end reserved for candidates who bring strong experience and reliability.
Clear expectations, written routines, and direct access to the owners for questions and support.
