Glen Haven Huntersville is a boutique, 6‐resident senior home in a quiet residential neighborhood of Huntersville.
We provide private rooms, home‐cooked meals, and close, consistent support for a very small group of residents. Our caregivers handle hands‐on care and medications.
This Cook keeps food service running smoothly so they can focus on residents.

JOB OVERVIEW
You will:
Cook and manage lunch and dinner each day.
Prep for breakfast service - performed by 1st shift caregivers.
Keep the kitchen, dining room, pantry, and staff bathroom areas tidy and presentable.
You are not working in a huge facility or restaurant kitchen. This is one house, six residents, and a small team that treats this like a private home.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lunch & DInner: Cook, Serve, and Reset
Prepare and cook nutritious, high‐quality lunch and dinner for up to six residents and a small staff.
Set the dining area, coordinate timing with caregivers, and ensure residents’ dietary preferences or needs (allergies, texture, portion size, etc.) are followed.
Clear dishes, run the dishwasher, wash necessary items by hand, wipe counters, and sanitize kitchen and dining floors so the space is reset for breakfast.
2. Overnight Prep: Plan and Direct
Plan and specify overnight prep tasks for 3rd shift team members (chopping items, marinades, etc.)
Ensure all ingredients required for prep tasks are available beforehand.
Provide guidance on how to store and label prepped items
Ensure breakfast items have been purchased and made available for 1st shift to prepare and serve a nutritious breakfast.
3. Housekeeping – Bathroom, Kitchen, Dining, and Pantry Areas
Keep the kitchen, dining room, pantry, hallway, and staff bathrom clean during your shift.
Wipe down surfaces, spot‐clean spills, empty common‐area trash and recycling
Sweep, vacuum, and steam-clean floors to maintain high cleanliness standards.
Keep the home “tour‐ready” most days-minimal clutter, clean surfaces, and a welcoming feel.
4. Organization and Communication
Take full responsibility for a two-week meal planning calendar and the shopping list for the ingredients required.
Keep the pantry, refrigerator, and cleaning supplies organized, labeled, and rotated.
Maintain a simple restock list for groceries and household supplies; flag low items before they run out.
Maintain a current understanding of resident's allergies and dietary restrictions. Stock ingredients and plan meals with these in mind.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
2+ years of experience in at least one of these:
Cooking for families, small groups, or in a senior living or healthcare setting.
Housekeeping in a home, hotel, or senior community.
Comfort cooking simple, balanced meals (baked chicken, roasted vegetables, soups, casseroles, salads, etc.) from a basic menu or recipe.
Strong attention to cleanliness and organization-“eyes for detail” in a kitchen and home setting. We keep the house spotless!
Reliability: shows up on time, rarely calls out, and uses time well without constant supervision.
Able to communicate clearly with caregivers and owners in a calm, respectful way.
REQUIREMENTS
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Able to pass required background checks.
Physically able to stand and walk for most of a 6‐hour shift, lift up to 40 lbs occasionally, and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and carrying laundry.
Comfortable following written instructions and basic recipes in English.
Preference will be given to CNA or PCA applicants.
