Beyond the Beautiful Building

As we get closer to our opening date, we’ve been meeting with families and colleagues, and the conversation naturally shifts to, “So, it’s a nice house, but who are you hiring to work here?” We get it. We see the hope in the eyes of family members – they want to know their loved one will be cared for by someone who truly understands what this work means to them.
As much as we take pride in the house we designed and built for this sole purpose, we know what matters most – the hands that will provide care, the voices that will offer comfort, and the hearts that will make Glen Haven feel like home. We know we’re not just hiring employees, we’re building a community of trust.
Skills and Soul: Finding the Right Balance
Here’s the balance we seek: we need team members who have the skills and competence to assist with medication, provide personal care, prepare nutritious meals, etc., but we also need those who will remember that Jim loves his morning coffee extra strong, or who’ll patiently listen when Helen wants to share stories about her grandchildren for the third time that day 😉.
What We Look for when Hiring Lake Norman Caregivers
When we interview, we look for that spark – the moment when someone’s face lights up as they talk about why they chose to work in assisted living. They might be describing helping their own parents, or sharing how meaningful it felt to help someone through a difficult day. Those conversations tell us a lot. We get a sense of whether someone truly gets what we do here. We will invest in their training because we want them to feel confident in their abilities, but we’ll hire for character because that’s what families are really entrusting us with.
When Everyone Wins
Families are looking for those who will see their loved one as a whole person deserving of dignity and respect. As we begin hiring Lake Norman caregivers, those are exactly the kind of team members we’re committed to finding. That’s because we believe when you get the balance right between competence and caring, everybody wins. Our residents will thrive, families will have peace of mind, and our team members will find deep satisfaction in work that truly matters.
